Globally a good year with an early flowering and very hot temperatures in July. However August was cold and wet until September when the good weather came back.
A rigourous selection process lead to slightly lower yields and the result was generally good, but not exceptional. The reds from the Côtes de Nuits were my choice as usual but again the Chardonnays from the Côtes de Beaune and Chablis stole the show.
Do remember that Burgundy is predominantly a Chardonnay region (2/3 – 1/3), so this result is quite logical. Top chardonnays are also better apprecaited when they reach a certain age.
Pinot 14/20
Chardonnay 16/20
My advice: The Pinots are good to drink now and until 2018 for the 1er and Grand Crus. The big Chardonnays are perfect now!
