Vincent Dancer – Domaine Vincent Dancer

A tiny 6-hectare estate in Chassagne-Montrachet. Vincent Dancer is one of Burgundy’s undoubtedly talented, start-from-scratch wine makers.

Vincent was born in Alsace and studied to be an engineer. After spending time in Burgundy he decided to take over the small area of vineyards that were owned by his family .

Open-minded and a perfectionist as well as being known as a kind of reclusive winemaker, he makes wines of great purity and superb texture, that despite the small production level, are well known amongst a small selection of restaurants and wine-lovers. He was the firts winemaker to go organic in the village of Chassagne-Montrachet.

We tried all 12 wines and were charmed by their pure, bright and savoury style. He is as non-interventionist as possible: native yeasts, no enzymes or acids, natural malo, no battonage, no fining or filtering.  Each cuvée reflects the terroir — from the rich, unctuous Meursault Perrieres to the incisively fresh Chassagne Tete-du-Clos. It is not an exaggeration to say that the wines from Vincent Dancer are majestically unique, exceptionally delicious, and well worth the effort of seeking out.
