So after 25 years of making the estates wine, Jean-Louis Moissenet-Bonnard is seeing the new generation break through, with Jean-Louis’s daughter Emmanuelle-Sophie taking over.

Emmanuelle-Sophie has the heavy task of taking over wine making at this 5-generation estate in the heart of Pommard. At only 26, Emmanuelle-Sophie has just made her first estate vintage. She studied at the Lycée Viticole in Beaune (Wine college) before gaining a Master in science technology. Before taking over wine making, she taught in wine colleges in the Alsace region and Burgundy. She has an older sister and younger brother, but dad sees real potential in his daughter.
After suffering a 90% loss in yield following a freak hailstrom in the first week in August of this year, and after the disasterous weather conditions of 2012, Emmanuelle-Sophie has a lot of work on her plate. Luckily the estate possesses 1 hectaure of the famous (and soon to be Grand Cru?) plot called Les Epenots. This is a real gem and something to watch out for…along with this young lady’s potential.
